Saturday, February 18, 2:30pm – 4:30pm
Joseph Pilates invented accessories to address the needs of his clients. Jay Grimes will present not-so-frequently used apparatus like the Foot Corrector, Toe Exerciser, Breath-a-cizer, Sandbag, Magic Circle, 2 x 4, and Neck Stretcher. He will show you how these accessories can be the secret ingredient in correcting imbalance, and helping your clients make connections, and go deeper into their workouts.
Joe’s Home Workout, the Wunda Chair
Sunday, February 19, 2:30pm – 4:30pm
The Wunda Chair was one of the first pieces of exercise equipment made for home use. Joe invented this apparatus to be used both as furniture and workout equipment. Jay remembers Joe’s clients taking their Wunda Chairs with them when they left New York City in the Summertime to keep fit while they were away from Joe’s studio. Join Jay and learn familiar and new exercises that challenge your body in every way.
Studio Class (2 hrs)
This studio class is about practice and observation. For the first hour, half the class will practice their workout under Jay’s direction, while the other half observes. Then, the groups will switch places. Jay communicates to his clients through touch, rather than speech. He challenges his clients by choosing the “right” exercises in the “right” order. This is a special opportunity to experience and see Jay’s subtle yet impactful way of guiding bodies through their exercises.
