Tap Into the Power of Your Hands in Sandy’s Workshop
HOW TO TEACH WITH YOUR HANDS
Using your hands to teach is essential. Joe and Clara used pushes and pulls to help take their clients further in to their two-way-stretch, or to get them to feel something new in their bodies. With the guidance of your hands, you will help your clients to receive the maximum benefits that Pilates has to offer.
The information and guidance that we give our clients when we use our hands is often more potent than the words we choose. In my workshop we will do simple exercises to improve hand pressure and placement, proper body mechanics, and different reasons for using your hands. We will go over some of Joe’s traditional pushes and pulls as well as other assists that can help clients with individual needs.
I am teaching the “pushes and pulls” the way Jay has been giving them to me for the past decade. I am also applying my knowledge as a Thai Yoga Massage practitioner to guide teachers into feeling more comfortable using their hands.
Sandy has been assistant teaching Thai Yoga massage with Saul David Raye for 8 years. Thai Yoga massage includes stretching the body in ways that are similar to Joe Pilates’ traditional pushes and pulls. In this workshop you will practice with partners to build confidence in the way you use your hands and body to sense your client’s needs.
This is a great workshop to take if you are interested in applying for the Vintage Pilates Master’s Program, “The Work”. You may take this workshop on its own, or as part of Spring Pilates Camp. For more info, email us at firstname.lastname@example.org
