Teacher Feature: Sandra Sarnoff

Sandra Sarnoff is a relatively new addition to the Vintage Pilates teaching staff. A graduate of THE WORK, she has thrown herself into instructing all levels of clients and teaching virtually every service the studio has to offer. She is patient and observant, while being tough and dedicated to the method. Find out more about her below!

How did you discover Pilates?

I first discovered Pilates because I was suffering from back pain and back spasms. A friend, actually another teacher at Vintage, Debbie, had asked me to come to a mat class at the Spectrum Club. After taking several classes, I noticed my back pain had eased and eventually subsided. It was then that I became hooked on the method.

Why did you become a teacher?

After taking Pilates for 8 years I decided that I wanted to become a certified instructor so that I could help others that were in pain or just needed to move. Pilates beautiful combined my two backgrounds: teaching and Kinesiology.

What are your other passions and how do they dovetail Pilates?

I enjoy all outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, running, kayaking, yoga, swimming and stand up paddle boarding. I take Pilates with me into all my other activities, thinking about the 2 way stretch, tall back, working from the center and the back connection.

What is your favorite work of art?

I love attending a live theatre production as well as going to the museum of art.

Why are you at Vintage?

I love the atmosphere at Vintage and that it is a place where regular clients as well as teachers come to learn, do, and further their knowledge of the Pilates method.
